It’s Official! New Village YMCA Facility is Open

The ribbon was officially cut for the Greene County YMCA, located in Hope Plaza at Routes 9W and 81.

The opening ceremony took place in the newly built gymnasium, and featured many of the people who made this grand opening possible.

Village of Coxsackie Mayor, and board member of the Greene County YMCA Mark R. Evans, has been involved with this project since 2003 and has played a dynamic role in acquiring the funds to make the dream a reality.

President and CEO for Capital District YMCA, Dave Brown, spoke of all the hard work that was put forward by the community members of the county to make all this possible. He commended them by saying that the newly open facility will begin to encourage healthy lifestyles within the community.

“We’re going to hopefully grow some after-school programs, which would be off site from here, but out in the schools,” said Brown. He went on to say that the programs should be able to create interest that sparks an exciting curiosity in more remote areas of Greene County.
