R.C. Lacy Ford Lincoln Subaru, Greene County’s Oldest Automobile Franchise, Opens New Facility

Greene County’s oldest automobile franchise has officially opened its expanded headquarters, new showrooms, and new service center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Catskill this past August.

A family-owned business, R.C. Lacy Ford Lincoln Subaru has been in operation since 1914. Located at 23 Maple Ave, Route 9W, the establishment is now fully operational housing Ford and Lincolns on the west side of the showroom while the Subaru’s are showcased on the east.

The grand opening celebration involved many elected officials and numerous business, agency, and organization leaders. “One hundred years ago, my great-grandfather signed a contract with Ford to sell their automobiles,” said owner Dan Lacy. “It’s amazing what this has turned into. There are a lot of people to thank,” said Lacy. “We couldn’t do it without the support of the community.”

Lacy went on to thank his employees for their hard work and dedication through the years, stating that they are the “backbone of this dealership.” The employees then thanked Lacy, presenting him with a plaque honoring the 100 years of business and the contribution he has made to his community, to them, and to their families.

Senator George Amedore, presented Lacy with a certificate from the state Senate, and announced that there were “so few legendary success stories” like R.C. Lacy’s. “Today is about the legacy of the Lacy family,” stated Amedore. “To be in business for a whole century is extraordinary.”

R.C. Lacy’s is known around the community for providing more than 50 jobs over the years as well as giving back to their Greene County economy and community.
